Brockville, ON – November 14, 2009 – CAPCAN
Inc. is supporting an independent Canadian entry to the 2010 Dakar
Rally by providing a number of our CORVUS® Boxes to aid
in their efforts. The team will be using
the boxes in their support vehicle to store/contain the parts and tools
required in a race of this nature.
If
innovation and ingenuity intrigues you like it does us, you will want to follow
this project from its beginning (see link below) through to its successful
completion (we’re eternally optimistic) of the Dakar. The vehicle is being custom built in
Mississauga, ON, primarily at the JRP location (www.jrponline.com). The drivers will be Lawrence Hacking (the
first Canadian to complete the Dakar – and he did that on two wheels), and Christian
Girouard as the co-driver. Jay Thornton is the lead fabricator/wrench on
the project. The vehicle will be running
in the open class and is a two wheel drive, scaled-down (7/8), Trophy Truck,
powered by a VW TDI engine.
For
those who aren’t aware, the Dakar Rally is a grueling,
9,000 km off-road race through Argentina and Chile. Formerly known as the “Paris to Dakar Rally”,
it will start on January 2, 2010 and run until January 17, 2010. Check out www.dakar.com
for details.
